Auction house series – Make money off position hero sets

The video got a little choppy today for some reason. I suggest you just read below instead of watching today.

If you did what I said 2 weeks ago and bought the players I told you to you are rolling in coins like a pig in slop.

If you did what I said last week and bought Yanda under 100k, you lost some coins as he never went up. I personally am out about 150k in paper losses if I sold them now

But we’ll get to that in a little bit. Let’s talk about how to make some coins off PH speculators

Fast coins but it takes some leg work

HUGE Profit for a half hours work

Same thing with RG set I calculated last week. For some reason people aren’t doing the sets as they should to get the profit off of it. It is investors offloading their pieces instead of building the set. They don’t want to put in the extra effort. So we will and make bank.

If you buy the players that will go into each set, say one of each base elite and RTTP for a position before it drops you can make out even better.

So I originally said buy and hold these pieces. People have been doing that, buying the highest overall base/RTTP in each position and selling cheap due to competition. So now we take advantage of the many speculators, buy their pieces they’re selling off and profit ourselves. But again, watch the market trend as this method gets out there more.

I feel I should re-iterate this in most videos, buy players as they are in packs or toppers. Like Sunday’s flashback topper, guess what was low yesterday/today?

And players are always lowest a couple hours after a new hot bundle with a good topper is put on the market, ideally Saturdays when a lot of people are on.

The first time flashbacks were put into packs I bought right as they came out and sold 4 days later at a 40%-80% markup.

I wasn’t able to get on Saturday morning and buy but next time either flashbacks or throwbacks or combine or whatever is put in packs, look to snipe a player low, hold until they are out of packs and sell

How to decide when to buy a bundle

Look at the topper. Give yourself the average return you think you could get from it. If the topper alone is about 50% of the coins you could get from buying it off the black market at a rate of 9 dollars per 100,000 coins, I’d say that’s a good bundle. And this ratio changes through the year.

If you were with me at the beginning of Madden 16 you heard me talk about how buying bundles was better than buying coins at the time.

Well people did that, sold for cash and made a good bit of money.

But as people leave MUT for the year a lot of coins go up for sale, therefore making the coins cheaper to buy as the sellers progressively ask less and less cash for them.

The bundle that stands out to me most was the Black Friday bundle. Basically 80 dollars guaranting you 400k with Mean Joe Greene. This topper alone was more than 100% of the coins you could get from the black market. The last best bundle we got. Every topper since then has been under the black market unless you got lucky.

So for example lets go through this Xfactor bundle with a guaranteed flashback.

A flashback could be great or terrible, but let’s take a center value of around 200k. So you are paying about $70 for 200,000 coins plus the booty packs. So that’s about $35 per 100,000 coins. Pretty terrible. The thing about today’s packs were the silver tickets which drew a lot of people into purchases. But those were best found in pro packs I believe so it had little value to add to our calculation especially since they are so hard to pull.

I bet the next best packs we get are guaranteed Ultimate Legend Toppers. I bet we get Golden tickets in the next week then either the Easter promo or UL topper this weekend.

But I could be wrong, what do I know, I’m just a fox on the internet.

Traits in Madden 16. What they mean and how to see them for MUT

Today we talk through every trait in the game, how you can see them on players on muthead and what they mean for your scheme.

To see them on players watch the first little bit of the video, I give a tutorial on how to get to the advanced filters on muthead.com

Traits have been a thing in Madden for a long time but they’ve kind of been in the background for a while until it was confirmed on the mutcast earlier this week that they affect gameplay in MUT and the community has been in a bit of a buzz about them. But here are the best explanations the community has for them at the moment:

Clutch: It’ll give players boosts to stats during the end of half or the game. Not sure if it happens on 3rd and 4th downs. Could be why everyone seems to covert those on me. Or I just suck. Probably a little of both.

High motor: offense – they keep looking for more blocks after their first one. Defense if he gets knocked down he’ll get back up to pursue the ball carrier. There are so many things this could apply to but I’m not sure if it does like if he’s tired will he keep using defensive pass rush moves, or play at a high level? Or will they chase a ball carrier down from across the field? So this could go from important to have to REALLY important to have depending on how many things this touches.

DL Swim, Spin, Bull Rush – Pretty self explanatory although something I think unnecessary code-wise. So the Swim and Spin are finesse moves and the bull rush is a power move. I had a video planned out on this before this specific topic got brought up so you’ll see a deeper dive into this in the near future, but why have finesse and power move ratings then on/off switches for these moves when you can just have ratings for these moves? It seems like unnecessary complication to the code and confusion for us gamers.

Plays Ball in Air – Conservative, Balanced, Aggressive

Conservative will be the guys that wait for the WR to catch then try and smack them. Known as playing the WR. Kam Chancellor is the model citizen here.

Aggressive will be the guys that go up for the pick or swat to try and defend the ball in air. Not sure on the swat part but surely they’ll go for the pick when afforded the opportunity. And don’t call them Shirley. That joke really doesn’t work in print.

And balanced is self explanatory, it’s the middle ground between the two. Not sure how the game determines what a balanced guy does. Probably something about not dropping an egg or something.

Big Hitter: Some say this increases hit power. I think (among others) that it just has to do with whether or not the CPU goes for hit sticks if the player isn’t controlling them.

Makes Sideline Catches: Dragging feet before you step out of bounds. It’ll make the WR more likely to stay in bounds on passes near the sideline. I think in last year’s game and before this was more valuable. This year with possession catch I don’t see too many WRs not dragging their feet if you hit A on the Xbox.

Drops Open Passes: Exactly what it says. Will the WR get a case of the oops? I can’t believe Brandon Marshall has this trait. He’s made some crazy aggressive catches for me but now that I see this, I have seen some weird drops from him. Then again, I’ve seen that from almost all of my WRs.

Fights for extra yards: Whether your RB gets that “struggle” animation that you sometimes see. I think this allows it to happen more frequently. Because JJ Watt’s 90 HB doesn’t have the trait but I’ve seen him plow for extra yards. Can’t remember the animation he gets off the top of my head though.

Covers Ball: Always, Brace for All, Big hitters, medium hitters and never brace.

Weirdly only the big guys like linemen, out of position linemen, kickers, punters and some other stragglers have Always as the cover the ball trait. It must be how they hold the ball with  the animation where they always hold it high and tight to their chest. Maybe it makes them slower because of it. I don’t know I’m just spitballing like a porn star.

Brace for all seems to be the best trait as the player is running free until a hit is coming. But not many high end RBs have it. Could be that when a player braces for a hit they go down easier. So I take back what I said about it being the best.

Anyways, most of the best RBs like Bo Jackson, Eric Dickerson have brace for big hitters which means they’ll still be going strong against most tacklers trying to break it rather than not fumble. I like this but Bo has fumbled more for me and I’ve cause more fumbles from Bo than I thought were regular. That’s maybe due to fatigue, don’t listen to anyone’s anecdotal evidence. I’ll see if I can’t test these attributes down the road.

Brace vs medium hitters is what it sounds like. Fewer fumbles but fewer broken tackles is what I’d guess.

Covers ball never is only given to two WRs and two RBs. Michael Irvin, Isaac Bruce, Walter Payton and Curtis Martin. Weirdly all legends players. I’m not sure how to take that. Do you guys notice them fumbling more than normal? I had Walter for a while and didn’t notice anything strange myself.

Throws ball away is a CPU Trait. When you are controlling the QB it doesn’t come into play.

Throws Tight Spiral is owned by most top end QB except Peyton Manning, Andy Dalton, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. And how could we forget the GOAT Tim Tebow. But besides for the cosmetic spin on the football, I’ve read that it makes the ball easier to catch for WRs. This might be something to be tested.

Senses pressure – Either it’s awesome and relates to how quickly or short your controller vibrates before getting hit as a QB or it’s just a CPU trait. It would be really cool if it affected the game when you are playing as a QB. If anyone knows about this one please let me know in the comments.

Offensive E-Book Madden NFL 16 Tennessee Titans

Today we go over how to vertical and inside zone out of the Tennessee Titans playbook along with some adjustments you can use to defeat different defenses.

The true power of this playbook relies on the fact that inside zone and verticals are stock audibles in many of the shotgun sets.

Alternate title: I share some of my favorite plays not named inside zone and verticals, but also talk about inside zone and verticals.

Budget 4-3 defense – best cheap gold players MUT 16

The 4-3 has 4 defensive linemen and 3 linebackers. The defensive tackles are in the middle to stuff the run with the ends outside the offensive tackles to contain the run. In the NFL, teams like to have a defensive tackle to rush the passer and one big boy to stop the run. In Madden its a little different. The pass rushing DTs are too big of a liability against the run so I like two players in the middle to stop the run.

The defensive ends on the other hand will be responsible for both stuffing the run and rushing the passer. So I want guys with good speed to be able to get to the outside to contain both the run and any mobile QBs. You don’t want someone with 70 speed trying to chase down Mike Vick. So guys with good speed and pass rushing moves are needed at the ends.

The linebackers in the 4-3 do not rush the passer as frequently as those in a 3-4. The linebackers tend to play more pass coverage and let the D-Line do the pass rushing. So you want high zone coverage and play rec out of your linebackers in the 4-3.

So here is the optimized gold lineup for the 4-3, if you run any exotic blitzes where you drop a defensive lineman into coverage or rush a linebacker, adjust accordingly.

LE – 84 overall Jadeveon Clowney – 4-3 Defensive ends are terrible. Put linebackers here for better production and this Clowney is one of the best in the game at getting to the QB. His speed and acceleration will chase down a lot of scrambling QBs. He also holds up okay in the run game with 87 blockshed. (Backup Dan Williams 84 overall DT for run stuffing situations or opponents that exclusively run the ball)

RE – Anthony Barr 84 overall – Great Speed and power move to hunt down those mobile QBs (Backup Michael Brockers 83 overall DT for run stuffing situations or opponents that exclusively run the ball)

DT – Damon Harrison 83 overall. Some people love a pass rusher and a run stuffer for their DTs. In real life I support this. In Madden I want two run stuffers with high blockshed.

DT – Brandon Williams 84 overall. Same reasoning as above.

LOLB – Nigel Bradham 80 overall

MLB – (USER) Nate Askew (25 coins from EA marketplace) or Telvin Smith 83 overall.

ROLB – Sean Lee 83 overall or Telvin Smith 83 overall for more speed but less play rec

I would not suggest basing your scheme on man coverage with gold players. But it is good to mix it in to confuse the opponent. I am basing these recommendations on you playing zone cover 2,3, or 4 80% of the time.

CB – Ladarius Gunter 84 overall. Tall, decent speed, zone coverage and the second best blockshed for gold corners which is very important with the amount of outside runs this year.

CB – Darius Slay 81 overall – Tall, fast, okay zone. I heard that he plays above his overall.

CB – Quinten Rollins 84 overall – Good blockshed and tackle for an inside corner. Also his zone coverage is pretty good.

CB – Bradley Roby 81 overall – Usually a man specialist because I like to call cover 2 man out of Dime or Quarters in long passing downs.

FS – Dwight Lowery 84 overall – Good speed, zone and play rec. Ideal for a deep defender.  (Jimmy Ward if you run a lot of man)

SS – Nate Allen or Ron Parker both 84 overall. You can’t go wrong with either of these playmakers. I’ve heard great things about both.

Running offense – Best Cheap Budget Golds Players – MUT 16

If you want to put together a very run heavy offense on a budget, get the below players.

I have placed players in order they should appear on your depth chart. So the number 1 WR should be in the number 1 WR spot, 2 in 2, etc. If you want to sub in guys to get your styles above 90, then go right ahead! Have fun building your team.

QB – Johnny Manziel 84 overall is the top option here for running QBs but he’s 15k, Cam Newton’s 84 is great for the option offense and so is Marcus Mariota’s 76 if you promise me you’ll always slide with your QB and not take a hit. Otherwise get Matt Stafford for pocket passing situations.

HB – 1. Duke Johnson 79 overall – First down runner. OR Charcandrick West 82 overall TOTW has 93 speed with 92 elusiveness, 96 accel and 93 juke and would be a good alternative. OR Karlos Williams 84 overall TOTW if you want more trucking in your back but still great speed.

  1. Dri Archer 70 overall MF if you can afford it –For outside runs and tosses. If not his base silver does a good job getting out wide.
  2. Chris Ivory 84 overall TOTW for inside runs and short yardage
  3. Reggie Bush 77 overall for catching passes out of the backfield

Don’t let Duke get fatigued. Use Archer and Ivory generously.

FB –Patrick DiMarco 81 overall RTTP. After playing the game for a while I’ve come to realize awareness at this position is most important. A TE will suffer an awareness drop when moved to FB. All FBs are expensive but get Patrick DiMarco’s 81 overall RTTP card which has 82 awareness with 83 run block and 80 impact.

WR – You must get 91 Amari Cooper. Either do Journey 2 for him which isn’t too tough or scrape enough coins together. He is a gamechanger. You will get production from him that you won’t get from other players around his price level. He’s the game’s best value right now.

  1. Amari Cooper 91 overall (replace with Dorial Green-Beckham 83 overall until obtainable. Huge deep threat this DGB is.)
  2. Michael Floyd 84 overall TOTW
  3. Keenan Allen 83 overall 95 route running 93 CIT. Great for 3rd downs.
  4. Tavon Austin 75 overall – 95 speed for drags and beating man coverage with speed. Also should be your kick and punt returner.

TE

1. Craig Stevens 77 overall 85 run block, 84 speed, 90 acceleration.

  1. Delanie Walker 83 overall 81 run block, 85 speed, 84 acceleration.
  2. Ladarius Green 83 overall 92 speed, 94 accel. Fast TE to sub in for drags and flats out of split close.

LT           1. Joe Staley. 84 overall. By far and away the best balanced. 92 run block, 88 pass block, 85 awareness

               2. King Dunlap 81 overall. 94 run block to sub in at TE when you need extra help on the edge

LG           1. Andrew Norwell 84 overall RTTP. If you pull your guards more on tosses get Clint Boling who has 83 awareness

C             1. Ryan Kalil 84 overall if you don’t plan on passing much at all.

RG          1. Kevin Zeitler 84 overall

RT           1. Lane Johnson 84 overall

               2. Derek Newton 80 overall (same reasoning as King Dunlap)

The new squad leaves no survivors – Head to Head gameplay madden ultimate team 16

Today we show off the new squad in action. Here’s yesterday’s video for the players: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9p4H3nmkfs

Where do you lineup? Here’s mine. Lineup update and RTTP pack opening – MUT 16

Today I go through my lineup updated at Road to the Playoffs and then pull some road to the playoffs sets. Anywhere I should update? Do you like the selections I made? There are some weak spots at the o-line and I’m hoping to save enough for Deion.

Alternative title, probably should be about the packs, hmmm…: OMG electric packs! Elite pulls with one going for 6 digits!

How to Stop the Nano Blitzes out of 4-3, 3-4, Dime formations – Madden NFL 16

Today I am joined by The Wop to discuss how to shut down nanos from the 4-3, 3-4 and Dime defenses. We show what to look for and how to pass against the sets. I shut his 94 overall squad with screaming heat down with my 50ish starter squad showing the ineffectiveness of blockshedding on pass rushes this year.
